August Yoga Challenges/Path To Positivity Week 1

August is here and that means it is time for new instagram yoga challenges!!!  I wasn't as persistent with last months challenges but I am still going to participate as much as I can until my mini yogi arrives!!

This month I chose to participate in #Balancethemind which is hosted by @fairyhealthylife, @tyneedncr, @nadianoelle, @sequelLife_BP, @heartbeat4many @_satki, @jymaya, @rahmiohmness, @alexisr022, @mountainflower, @dalima26, and @maryjvandy.  Each day one of them will post the pose to capture and post on your own instagram and tag it #balancethemind.

I am also going to take part in #Yogratitude which is hosted by @tjhark, @gypsetgoddess, @laurasykora, and @masumi_g.  Same goes for this challenge, everyday one of the instagramers listed above will post a pose for the following day that you capture, post on your instagram, and tag #yogratitude.

Just a little Path to Positivity update!  I am thrilled that there are so many people participating this time!  I have decided to post one to two activities a week instead of trying to post one everyday!!  The instagram tag is #pathtopositivity for anyone who would like to join in or you can follow my blog as I post the weekly activities.

Day 1: Gratitude Journal/Notebook.

Grab yourself a little notebook to keep by your bed or in your purse.  The notebook is going to be your gratitude notebook/journal.  Once a day take a few minutes and jot down a few things you are grateful for that day.  Making a daily list of what we are grateful for will help us complain less about what we don't have and appreciate what we already have a little more.  You can even get a little creative and put together a gratitude board such as a chalk or dry erase board that you can keep in spot you will see everyday!  Today I was informed by a fellow yogi/instagramer about an iPhone app called the "Gratitude Journal" by HappyTapper where you can post your list right to your phone and even add photos and read daily quotes!!

Path to Positivity!

Hello Everyone!!

The last couple of months I have not kept up with the positivity project at all so I decided to start it up again.  I noticed what a difference it made in my everyday life to do little activities that remind me to stay positive and be grateful no matter what the universe throws at me.  I am going to call it "Path to Positivity" this time, and will start from the beginning so those who did not participate in the positivity project can join in.  I am so excited to begin this project again because it will be great to bring my son in to an environment that is full of positivity.  Living in today's society it is not always that easy to stay positive in every situation, so it is always nice to have a little reminder to be grateful and spread good vibes.

Quick Pregnancy Update:
I am 35 weeks, 2 weeks from full term! Yayy!!  So excited yet so anxious for the arrival of our son! His room is almost finished, my husband has just a few drawers for the dresser to finish staining and put together.  I am so grateful for my husband and how hard he has worked to get this room ready for our son!  It is such a peaceful place to be we both catch ourselves just sitting in there all of the time.  We have an ultrasound this week to make sure our little man is still growing properly!!  I am still trying to keep up with my daily yoga practice but I do have days now where I just have to take it easy because it is getting harder as Owen continues to move lower.  So grateful for everything life as given me and can not wait to see my mini yogi!

The cute owl lamp was a gift from a close friend and the tree was part
of the center pieces at the shower that held the "mommy advice" cards.

This is his wall of paintings that were done by family members.  There are still
a few people who want to paint something for him so we will be adding to this wall!

This book shelf was in my room at my grandpa and grandma's house when I was little,
and now it is passed down to Owen.   The bear at the top was handmade by one of my husband's
cousins.  She is so talented!!

All of these books were gifts at the shower and I am so grateful for everyone who has
helped build Owen's library!

Yoga High.

Hi everyone!!!

This has been an exciting week!  Monday my husband and I had our maternity photo session at Brecksville Reservations, where we also had our wedding photos taken two years ago!!  I had three days off of work, which was great because I am starting to really organize the house even more for baby Owen's arrival.  My soul sister Maria is coming to stay with her husband for the weekend!!!  I am so excited about that I love anytime I get to spend with her and it's a plus because it's going to be twice in a month that we get to see each other!!  Last but not least our baby shower is this Sunday!!  So excited to see all of my family and friends!  I can not believe that we have only a little over a month until our son is here!!  Kyle and I are getting so anxious to meet this precious little boy!

On the baby note my belly has caught up to measuring the week that we are suppose to measure which is 33 weeks, but our doctor still wants to be cautious and make sure Owen is growing properly so we have an ultrasound in two weeks and most likely another one two weeks after that!  I love having the chance to see our little man, it makes it so much more surreal.

I am still staying pretty active, of course still practicing yoga everyday for the most part.  I haven't had the chance to walk much outside because of the heat, but I did get a mile in this morning before my daily yoga practice.  The instagram yoga challenges are starting to get a little harder but I do my best to participate as much as possible and modify as needed.

Hope everyone has an amazing weekend!!  I know I will! :)

Taste The Vibration

These past few days have been pretty busy with the holiday, visiting with friends and family!  A little quick pregnancy update:  We had a doctors appointment last Wednesday and my belly was measuring pretty small for the week we are in so our doctor sent us to an ultrasound this morning.  Everything went great!  Owen is a small baby but very happy and healthy!  He is already head down face down and slightly engaged so the doctor in the ultrasound said don't be surprised if he arrives a little early, which I don't mind as long as he is healthy!  We can not wait to meet our little mini man!

Back to yoga.... in addition to the other July instagram challenges I am taking part in I have also joined in on an awesome challenge that has to do with the chakras.  The challenge is hosted by @Sarahpohl_yoga and the challenge is call #Tastethevibration !  Each day a new color that with the chakra is posted and all of the posts for the challenge must correspond with that color!  The hashtag looks awesome with all of the posts in color!

Addicted to YOGA

I am really enjoying the these latest yoga challenges!!  So much fun too see how everyone edits and changes up the asanas.  Yoga really helps get me through the days that I feel in a funk, like today.  I like to have control over my mind and thoughts, not let my thoughts control me.  I do not know what I would do without yoga.  It is my heart and soul.

Even though I recently graduated with a degree in physical therapy, sometime next year I would like to work on my 200hr Yoga instructor certification.  Ever since I started practicing it has been my dream to open my own studio.  Can not wait until my mini is here so he can start practicing with me!  I already know he will be an amazing little yogi!

Momma Boom Hit 30 Weeks!

I am officially 30 weeks pregnant as of yesterday, with only 7-10 more weeks before we get to meet our son!  I still feel absolutely amazing and am continuing to only put on very little weight!  I can not believe in just a little over two months Owen will be here!!  Our nursery is almost done, my husband and I put together his dresser and now just have to paint that and the walls.  My amazing mother in-law and I went to ordered our fabulous glider that should be here in about a week or so!!  I can not wait to see the final product.  It is going to be perfect for a our little man!  I still continue to practice yoga on a daily basis and walk when I have time.  I eat healthier than I have ever eaten, no meat at all and lots of fruits and veggies.  I also make fresh juice every morning!  I rarely snack on anything that is not fruit and do not have any unhealthy cravings what so ever.  Our baby shower is less than a month away I can not wait!  My husband is becoming more anxious by the second to meet Owen, he can not wait to be a dad!

Chakra Aligning Sequence

I love Yogajournal.com because they offer a variety of sequence videos by many different instructors.

My mind was a little off balance for the last couple of days and was in much need to realign my chakras.  The video I chose today was called "Get Into the Groove" by Alanna Kaivalya.  The sequence is to help realign the lower three chakras..root, sacral, and solar plexus.

You want to move through Surya Namaskar A a few times to warm yourself up.

These next few pictures are the asanas in the sequence:

Here is the link if you would like to check out the video yourself:

Yoga Love...

Just wanted to share something that I found on tumblr... why we really do yoga.  Not to be bendy and in shape but to connect with our inner self and calm our minds.

Physical form and poses, although useful along the way, are not the end goal. It simply does not matter whether your hamstrings are long or your body is toned if you are not a nice person. Alternatively, a person practicing the most basic level of yoga while maintaining a heartfelt devotion to living a more compassionate and peaceful life is perhaps a very accomplished yogi. Whenever excited students would bring in photos of contortionists and other extremely bendy people to show Jois and his grandson, Sharath, Jois would always take time to look deeply at the image. Then his furrowed brow would clear and he would say, “That not yoga. That only bending. Yoga means self-knowledge.” — Kino MacGregor, The Power of Ashtanga Yoga

Veggies Veggies Juice and More Veggies!

My husband and I purchased a share of an organic farm near us!  Each week for the next 25 weeks we will receive a basket of organic fruits, veggies, and spices!!  Today we went for a ride to pick up our first basket of crops.  The farm is absolutely beautiful and it smells amazing when you walk past all of the fresh crops.  Due to the fact that the farm is organic it takes a lot of extra work to keep the plants healthy and growing without being taken over by weeds.  Sunday morning we are going to help them catch up with the weeding in the carrot beds.  I am pretty excited to start volunteering there a couple times a month.

This was the basket of veggies we received today

We have also purchased a juicer, which I am completely obsessed with and have been juicing EVERYTHING!  My favorite juices so far are carrot/apple and kale/apple.  I need to start looking up more juice recipes!  Since I started juicing I haven't had one cup of coffee in the morning and I feel great!  I can not believe the energy a cup of fresh juice can give you!  Now that we have so many veggies from the farm I can experiment a little more!

For dinner tonight....A cup of fresh kale/apple juice, organic veggies and whole wheat pasta salad!

Oh!  I forgot that I grabbed a bundle of some fresh sage at the farm and I
am going to dry it out to make a sage stick for cleansing!
